You have the best idea for a blog and now you want to market it. You want to be successful and make it the best. How do you do this? How do you draw readers and keep them coming back for more? It seems that someone already had the same idea, so how do I separate myself from my competitors?
You won’t go anywhere by just setting up a blog and hoping that people will find it. You are not going to gain links, get a higher S.E.O ranking. You will need to start marketing your blog and make it successful.
Contribute
You will need to start looking for your competitors blogs, related blogs, and just about any blog that will find your blog useful. You want to start commenting and promoting your blog. Allow them to RSS feed your content and make your blog shareable.
Social Media Proof
Your site needs to be social media friendly. Your blog needs to display several ways to share your content. Whether it be images, the whole article, the website. Locate the share buttons on top of the image, bottom of the image and near the comment section. When you promote your blog through social media, you want to provide them the title as well as the name of your blog. Create brand awareness and shareable content. If your visitors can’t share, you will go nowhere.
Frequent
If you are posting one a week, you need to do more than that. If you are just starting out, you want minimum of 15-20 articles so you can cycle them every day using social media. You want mixture of usefulness and your social media account shouldn’t look repetitive. You want to announce how many articles you will be posting so you can gain your visitors attention. You want to be routine-based. If you are going to publish one article a week, do it on a specific day like Monday and keep posting it every Monday. If you change the day you post the article your visitors will be disappointed, takes too much effort for them to keep looking when you will post it. Keep it easy for them to follow you.
Talk About Others
If you are writing about health and fitness. You want to write about those who have a huge to medium influence. As you write about it, tag and mention that you have written an article about them. Whether they share it or not, keep at it. Whether they like it or not, maybe they will contact you. This goes back to contributing to other blog posts. You can mention that you have an article that is related. With social media like Twitter, you can mention their names.
SEO
SEO the heck out of your blog. If you want to reach a certain audience, you will need to provide several ways your new visitors might be able to access your blog. Keep a record and see how successful one is over the other.
Marketing is both free and paid. Paying for your visitors will make a huge impact on your blog site. This will help with the share and comments that will lay down your credibility and trust foundation.
